How It Works (In Brief)
30 Minute Install
1. Prepare SmartValve™ For Installation
Determine installation location — install after meter but before any fixtures or branches. Pre-install fittings on the SmartValve™ to interface with your piping. (ex: Sharkbite)
2. Shutoff & Drain Water
Shut off the valve ahead of your water meter (to isolate your house from the municipal water supply) and drain the water pipes within your home.
3. Install The SmartValve™
Confirm pressure is removed and piping drained. Cut pipe. Install the SmartValve™ paying attention to the correct orientation — see flow direction arrow on the valve.
4. Turn Water Back On
Slowly turn the water back on with the isolation valve ahead of the meter. Check for leaks. Vent air from your home piping by opening faucets.
5. Get Maximum Savings
Adjust the valve to maximum savings. Go back to normal life! Dial the SmartValve™ back if needed.

Is there really air in my water?
There is no debate that air flows through your water line along with the water. Water systems are designed with this in mind to prevent serious problems such as air blocks and hammering.
The real question is how much air? The amount is not constant and is affected by things such as system pressure, pressure fluctuations, temperature, turbulence, and by the design and condition of the water supply system. It can vary from a little to a lot at any given time.
